Wallace & Smith Contractors was founded in Bakersfield, CA in 1950 by Henry Wallace and Earl Smith.

Paul Cooper joined the firm in 1989 and became a partner in 2008.

The Company has maintained a steadfast and significant presence in the San Joaquin Valley for decades and has continued to expand, opening a Central Coast office in Santa Barbara, CA in 2022.

Our Company specializes in commercial, multi-family, industrial, institutional, agricultural, and aerospace building construction, with licenses in California and Nevada. Over the years we have acquired expertise in many types of construction including wood-framed; concrete tilt-up; masonry; steel framed; and pre-engineered steel. We are an authorized representative for CBC Steel Buildings, A Nucor Company.

With decades of experience, our staff understands the required detail in planning and implementing a building program.
